Better Homes and Gardens, Parents, and Fitness Magazine Adopt Apple Subscription Model

Meredith Corporation has followed down the path of many magazines and newspapers, and is now offering iPad subscriptions to its magazines Better Homes and Gardens, Parents, and Fitness.

Beginning today, each of these magazines can be downloaded from the App Store with annual and monthly subscription rates from $9.99 to $14.99 per year and $1.99 per month. As is standard with most magazines, print subscribers are entitled to free access of the iPad edition.

With iPad sales continuing to grow, companies are working hard to get their content onto the iPad. According to Liz Schimel, Chief Digital Officer for Meredith’s National Media Group, Meredith’s clients were eager to access the popular magazines on the iPad.

“Our research over the past several months showed that our audience was excited about interacting with our brands on the iPad, and that demand among both current print and new subscribers for a subscription offering through the App Store was high.”

iPad editions of Better Homes and Gardens, Parents, and Fitness will provide fresh digital content, an experience that’s not quite like a traditional magazine. Meredith plans to use the iPad to include new types of media in their digital magazines, such as recipes and decorating applications, to workout videos and interactive games parents can play with their children.

Interested in subscribing, or checking out the digital edition if you’re already a subscriber? Better Homes and Gardens, Parents, and Fitness can be downloaded for free in the App Store, with individual issues and subscriptions available as in-app purchases.
