Regardless of anything else that may be true about this game, it’s fun to say ‘Celebirdies’. Every time I do, I’m forced to smile. Tweet Hunt: Celebirdies is a classic shooting gallery game, arming you with a slingshot to use against enemy birdies.
I recommend taking some time to try the practice mode to start, because while it is really easy to use the slingshot, aiming is a whole different story… it takes a little getting used to! The important thing to remember is that it’s more about prediction than it is about targeting, because the birds are always on the move.
As you are shooting, keep your eyes peeled for the fail whale. One shot landed against him will bring down all of the visible targets!
Because every bird represents a real tweet, when each one hits the ground, his tweet is displayed on the screen.
Beyond practice, the game contains 3 modes: Celebirdies (shoot the followers of your favorite celebrities), Top Trends (take out tweets from the current trending topics) and My Tweeps (assault tweets from your own timeline).
My favorite mode by far is My Tweeps. Something satisfying about shooting at the people you know (in the nicest possible way, of course).
There isn’t much to configure with this game, but you can enable content filtering to replace curse words in the tweets with special characters so they aren’t as offensive. (if that kind of thing bothers you or you have children playing the game).
What I liked: The personalization that comes from connecting this game to your Twitter account gives you a feeling of investment and curiosity that wouldn’t otherwise exist.
What I didn’t like: If you play any mode other than practice, you will require an active Internet connection.
To buy or not to buy: If you are a tweeting fool, this game is the Twitter accessory you have been looking for!
