Atlanta Restaurant Goes Completely iPad

Atlanta’s Do Restaurant at The View claims to be “so advanced that it combines the arts of music, food and science.” Since the restaurant switched its menu from traditional paper to iPad, diners now have more to enjoy besides the restaurant’s “musically-inspired pizza” and tony ambiance.

At Do (pronounced “dough”), the iPads are propped up throughout the restaurant on sleek stands. Guests can order from the menu, call for the valet, and even change the music from the iPad at each table. Do still employs a wait staff for the tasks which have yet to be automated such as actually serving the food or mopping up spilled drinks from those pricey new menus.

Not to be left out, bar customers can order from iPod Touch menus. There are also iPads on the walls of the restaurant’s powder rooms in lieu of mirrors.

Do’s owners Christian and Nacasha Ruffin hired a programmer with Apple certification to create their customized point-of-service system.

Do’s menu is filled with homages to musical greats. Thirsty diners can order a Dirty Diana (chocolate martini) or a Berry Gordy (berry, aloe and mint martini). Perhaps after the staff grows accustomed to offering iPads to its diners they’d consider serving the Steve Jobs — maybe espresso with a shot of Grey Goose –  as a drink special.
