For the first time since March, iPad 2 shipping times have dropped to under a day. Frustration and lack of availability seem to be things of the past, as you won’t have to wait more than 24 hours for shipping.
Days before the release of the iPad 2 back in March, the shipping delay had shot up to over a month, and remained in the 4 to 5 weeks range for months. As a result, the only way to get an iPad 2 was to get up early in the morning to wait in line, hoping for a new shipment at an Apple retail store.
Apple’s supply of the incredibly popular iPad 2 was unable to meet consumer demand, but finally, after nearly five months, suppliers have caught up and the iPad 2 is now readily available. Apple’s primary supplier, the Chinese manufacturing company Foxconn, has improved upon difficult iPad 2 manufacturing techniques and has been able to streamline production of the tablet. This means we’ll be seeing even more iPad 2s, as Foxconn plans on delivering up to 15 million iPad 2s to Apple during the Fall quarter.
Apple’s tablets are now available for everyone, at least until the iPad 3 is released and the cycle restarts once again. Additionally, several iPad retailers, such as Best Buy and Target, now have iPad 2s in stock and ready for immediate purchase.
