Test Your Puzzle Solving Skills in Demolish HD – iPad Game Review

For those who love the physics based puzzle games, Demolish HD is a game worth taking a look at. Using a very simple user interface, the game requires you to slingshot balls toward stacks of blocks on a nearby platform until they have all fallen and cleared.
The complexity of the game comes from the varied configurations and considerations as you progress through the levels. There are several types of blocks that all fall in different ways when hit by one of three different sizes of ball that you can choose from.
When I began playing, it was a bit confusing to determine how you are rated as pass or fail as the level completes. The answer is actually rather simple. You need to accumulate at least 100 points to move on, and when you use too many balls, this doesn’t happen. The good news is that you can easily replay any level that you don’t immediately succeed at.
The first levels of the game are quite easy, but don’t let this fool you. Each puzzle you solve gets progressively more difficult and allows you to unlock even harder levels of play.
The game itself is colorful and the graphics are crisp. The musical score in the background is upbeat without being too annoying. The sound effects compliment what is happening on screen without being obnoxious, but you can also easily play in ‘waiting room mode’ (in silence) without missing out on anything.
What I liked: I always wanted a slingshot as a child but never got to have one and this game satisfied some of those old desires. Flinging the balls is strangely satisfying and the responsiveness to your touch and movements is very impressive.
What I didn’t like: I’m often disappointed by these games that don’t offer multiple styles of game play. I tend to bore quickly when I can’t switch it up and this is a very single-focus app.
To buy or not to buy: If you have to get your hands on the physics style puzzle apps, this one is a worthy contender.
