The Smurfs Movie Storybook Hits App Store Before Friday’s US Movie Debut

If your kids are anxiously awaiting the release of The Smurfs movie on Friday, you can give them a sneak peek of those cute little blue creatures on your iPad now with iStoryTime’s The Smurfs Movie Storybook – Children’s Book app.
The Smurfs storybook app follows the movie storyline as kids watch Papa Smurf, Grouchy, Brainy, Clumsy, Gutsy, and Smurfette on an amazing adventure in New York City. Watch as the good hearted Smurfs are transported from Smurf village through a mysterious portal right into the heart of Central Park. Their remarkable journey takes them through NYC subways, toy stores, Times Square, Central Park and more as they try to locate a stargazer, open the portal home and return to their village in time for the Blue Moon Festival. Unfortunately, the evil Gargamel and his cat Azrael have different plans for the Smurfs as they are one step behind them the entire way.
Children have three options to read this book (Read it Myself, Read to Me and Auto Play) and discover whether the Smurfs’ new friends Patrick and Grace are able to help them defeat Gargamel and return home before its too late. Words are highlighted when read and can be turned on and off at any time by tapping the screen and selecting the ABC button. Users also have the option to turn off narration or return to the main menu by tapping the screen and selecting the appropriate button.
Adding to the fun, The Smurfs storybook app also includes a “Spot the Difference” game. Kids can choose from three different movie scenes and then see them side by side with a similar picture. It is their job to locate and tap on the five differences in each picture to win the game. This is a great way to work on concentration and keep kids engaged but you have to look closely for some of them, so younger kids may need a little help.
Seeing the Smurfs again definitely brought back childhood memories of Saturday morning cartoons and my daughter enjoyed her little preview of the movie thanks to this app. The Smurfs Movie Storybook – Children’s Book is perfect for kids three and up, includes several voiceovers from the film and is compatible with both the iPad and iPhone.
