War Grimoire HD by imohoo is a tower defense game that will wow you with its graphics and animation. There are 30 levels and six mini-games as well as 60 upgradable items to help you defend your territory. The game is Open Feint and Game Center compatible and is on sale for 50% off for a limited time.
The game opens with a beautiful cinema graphic sequences that is colorful and stunning and really brings the player into the story. Once the trailer is over, you are ready to start playing. You can either chose to play a round of castle defense, or try out a mini-game, like memory. To play the main game for the first time, you are guided through the set up by a helpful fairy. Play close attention at this section as sometimes, the text goes away too fast to read and the steps the fairy is showing you are necessary to equip and upgrade your characters.
Once you have upgraded, outfitted and armed your soldiers, you are ready to start the castle defense. This part of the game is similar to others like it. You place your soldiers in optimum spots for shooting, hacking or burning the enemy before they reach the entrance. If your soldiers are strong enough and properly positioned, you will have no trouble annihilating the enemy. If you run out of money to pay your soldiers, you must wait until you have looted enough to buy more.
The game is fast paced and easy to play with many additional features to increase the replay factor without overdoing it. Upgrade and Equip section can be confusing at first, but once you understand the basics, you will have no trouble. You can also upgrade your soldiers, mid-battle by touching and holding the character. You are given the option to either upgrade or sell the soldier right away. This can be very beneficial if you just need an extra edge to get through the bigger mobs.
What I liked: The graphics are well-laid out and smooth. The mini games add an extra element to an otherwise simple game of castle defense.
What I didn’t like: The helpful fairy at the beginning is anything but helpful. I found this part of the game to be confusing and frustrating. The text would often leave the screen before I could finish reading it and the steps to take were so many that the equipping and upgrading section needs its own readable instruction section.
To buy or not to buy: The game promises hours of fun and looks amazing but i’m not sure I could claim that this game is worth six bucks.
