One of the best selling points of tablets are their big, beautiful touch screens. With the tap or swipe of a finger you can access email, read a book, play a game, the list goes on and on. There may, however, be instances when you feel a more precise instrument is necessary. Maybe you prefer to handwrite notes during class or sketch a picture using any number of the artistic apps available in the App Store and feel using your finger is a bit awkward. If that sounds like you, you might want to consider using a stylus like the Duo Stylus from Metix.
The Duo Stylus is designed for use on both a capacitive screen, as well as paper. It is roughly 5 inches long in stylus mode, with a rubber nib at one end allowing users to freely draw, write, maneuver or any number of other things on the screen of their iPad. Remove the cap, flip it and put it on the opposite end of the stylus and you have a regular pen to use on paper. Pen mode offers users access to both the pen at one end and the stylus tip at the other, perfect for flipping from one function to another during a business meeting or college class.
A glossy finish with silver accents provide both a professional and stylish look. Included with the Duo Stylus is a small carrying case and a refill pen cartridge.

What I liked: I liked the addition of a real pen on the other end of the device because there are those times it would be convenient to have one.
What I didn’t like: While the quality is good, I couldn’t help but wonder how the connection between the cap and pen would hold up over time. I also preferred to use the stylus in pen mode because it makes the device a little longer, and for me, a little easier to hold.
To buy or not to buy: Their are definitely some times when I prefer to use a writing instrument on my iPad. Whether taking notes, explaining math problems to my kids or editing photos, sometimes it is just nice to have something smaller than a fingertip to work with. If you agree and are in the market for a versatile stylus, the Duo Stylus is a nice choice.
