Verizon Ready for iPad 2 from Day 1

There are separate versions of the new 3G-enabled iPad 2. You will have the option to get it on AT&T’s network or on Verizon’s network. The choice is yours.

At least, one of the carriers has already jumped in and has formally announced via a teaser page that iPad 2 will be supported by its network when it launches on March 11. Verizon seems to be ready to support the new iPad starting next Friday.

Verizon will carry an EVDO-ready 3G version. The company expects to have the Wi-Fi and HSPA 3G versions in stores around the same timeframe.

The question is: Will Verizon carry a special event at the same time as Apple on March 11? It seems that Verizon is ready for it. We have not heard or seen anything from AT&T yet.

Keep in mind that the plans on both Verizon and AT&T will be offered on a “no-contract”, “month-to-month” basis. Both carriers are making sure they give you some flexibility when signing up for your brand new iPad. AT&T will offer both prepaid and postpaid options for data plans, while Verizon requires you to pay for data upfront.

However, Verizon has already communicated that it plans to offer the same pricing plans as in its current “iPad + MiFi” bundles. These plans offer “no-contract” plan options at $20 for 1GB of data, $35 for 3GB of data, $50 for 5GB and $80 for 10GB of data.

As expected, both AT&T and Verizon will compete heavily on the iPad 2 arena. At least for now, Verizon had already posted on their site their commitment to bring you iPad 2 next Friday.
