Arkon’s Headrest Mount for iPad (IPM-RSHM) attaches to the car’s headrest posts. The mount consists of two core components, a universal headrest mounting pedestal and a custom fit iPad holder.
The Arkon headrest mount installation is extremely easy. The system is made from hard plastic, and it only requires you to remove your front seat headrest to insert the iPad mount, adjust two knobs for stability, and finally attach the iPad hard case holder to the headrest mount.
To attach the hard case iPad holder to the headrest mount, all you have to do is simply insert the dual T-tabs on the mount to the dual T-slots on the holder. Once inserted, you’ll be able to adjust the position of your iPad for optimum viewing in landscape or portrait modes.
The Arkon mount also comes with a swivel ball head tightening ring. The swivel is adjustable and can be tightened, depending on your viewing pleasure.
To remove the iPad from the mount system, simply use the two tabs on the iPad holder case.
What I liked: Easy to install. The iPad can be easily locked into position. The swivel tightening ring offers a complete 360 degree rotation for landscape and portrait viewing. Overall, the mounting system does not take up a great deal of space, which makes it easy for you to carry around with your luggage. The headrest mount is very stable.
What I didn’t like: This iPad headrest is very good. But, I showed it to a few folks, and some didn’t like the $39.95 price tag. There are a few other headrest mounts in the market. One that competes in the same price range is the iPADKET. However, Arkon’s headrest mount (IPM-RSHM) is a very good option for you as well. I would say that it comes down to your personal preference on different design styles.
To buy or not to buy: Arkon has designed a very good headrest mount and custom fit holder for the iPad. It is definitely quite easy to install. The iPad can be inserted and removed easily. Overall, the IPM-RSHM headrest mount certainly offers a secure way to use your iPad while keeping the kids entertained and making your driving easier. A very good accessory for your iPad.
