Last summer we told you they were coming and now they have finally arrived, iPads at The Plaza that is. If you’re traveling to New York City and plan to stay in luxury at The Plaza, your room will now come equipped with an iPad.
According to Luxist.com, The Plaza is “the first hotel in the world to provide guests services and room controls using iPads and Intelity’s ICE (Interactive Customer Experience) software to all of its guests.”
The Plaza prides itself on great customer service and the addition of the iPads won’t change that. “We chose the iPad because it is a great piece of equipment that is here to stay and won’t disappear tomorrow,” says General Manager Shane Krige. “It brings another five star element to the hotel.”
When guests arrive in their rooms, they receive a video welcome on the iPad and then have access to a host of services at the tip of their finger. Whether they order room service, make restaurant reservations, request a wake-up call or control the lights in their room, guests discover what the iPad is capable of at The Plaza.
In addition to assisting Plaza guests, the iPad also provides management with insight into the daily workings of the hotel. The systems on the iPad help hotel staff track guest requests, as well as how quickly those requests are fulfilled. They also help eliminate the need for multiple departments, making the work that gets done more efficient.
The reach of Apple’s device continues to expand around the world and it’s always interesting to discover the many ways the iPad is being used. Whether its in a school, hospital or hotel, the iPad’s possibilities are touching the lives of many.
