‘Hands’ iPad Wall Mount from Iceblueline – Accessory Review

The iPad may be a great device, its larger size also makes it somewhat cumbersome in many situations. For example, if you use apps like Epicurious or Weber to cook, having your iPad close to your ingredients and/or close to an open flame is a big no-go – even if you use a quick fix like a zip top bag (see here), there is no elegant solution to keep your iPad secured and protected from spills and heat sources. Same goes for the office, as having your iPad lying on your desk while you work is not exactly optimum. Finally, if you happen to watch movies or shows via your iPad, holding it for an extended period of time quickly gets annoying.

To solve this problem, the folks at Iceblueline.com came up with their own line of wallmounts made from curved acrylic that can be mounted flat on any wall. The wallmount used for this review – dubbed ‘Hands’ – cradles your iPad without the use of clips or straps, all you need to do is to install it on a wall, and slide your iPad in the mount.

The installation of the wallmount takes about 15 minutes, all you need to do is to pick the location for the mount, install two screws, and you’re set.

Given the fact that the wallmount is made from plastic, there is virtually no risk to scratch the back and/or the front of your iPad.

Iceblueline also offers other designs, such as the ‘Classic’ mount, the ‘Powder Puff’ mount, and the ‘MyiPad’ mount. Depending on what you plan to use the mount for, you may prefer one over the other – note that the less intrusive mount is by far their ‘Classic’ model.

What we liked: Convenient, unique design, does the job. Various color and model options.

What we didn’t like: The ‘Hands’ model is a bit on the pricey side ($60), we would have given the wallmount 4 stars if it would cost $50 or less. The ‘Classic’ model may work better for some of you, as it costs less ($46), and doesn’t cover your iPad’s screen.

To buy or not to buy: The ‘Hands’ wallmount is a straightforward product. If you need to secure your iPad to a wall, the wallmount will do the job. Since it’s made of transparent plastic, the wallmount will blend nicely with most of your walls.

They you go using screws again? Still doesn’t solve being at eye level in the kitchen which is on a Kitchen Cabinet in most avg kitchens, not the wall.

$60? Try PadTab…..$30 for mount and two tabs. For $60 you can move it around to 5 different spots…
