The History of Jazz is an incredible collection of artists, music and historical facts from Ragtime in the 1890s with Scott Joplin to modern day Jazz with musicians like Jason Moran. With a simple touch and swipe of your finger, this app will bring the world of Jazz to life on your iPad. Watch and absorb all it has to offer as you learn the chronological history of Jazz as an art-form, read about legendary musicians, watch video interviews and performances, purchase songs and albums from iTunes and more.
A timeline categorizes Jazz into different genres providing a wealth of information on artists of the time. What I liked: The interface was easy to use and the content was incredible. I enjoyed watching many of the videos and learned a lot about Jazz along the way.
What I didn’t like: Really nothing. This app is a little more expensive than many apps on the market now but it’s packed full of information and definitely more engaging than a coffee table book.
To buy or not to buy: Yes. The History of Jazz is a great addition to the app collection of any music lover.
