Meet TweetMag – A Whole New Twitter Experience for Your iPad

Flipboard has experienced a lot of success this year after releasing their beautiful app for the iPad. After all, they were the winners of Apple’s iPad App of the Year Award.
But, as many people like to say in the western hemisphere – They cannot just rest on their laurels. A new application has hit the App Store, and from what we’ve seen thus far, it will demand some attention as well.
We’ve been keeping an eye on TweetMag. TweetMag is an application that transforms Twitter into beautiful magazines of articles and media. In other words, it takes the Tweet posts and turns them into a beautiful magazine. There are several Twitter clients out there today, but TweetMag is as beautiful as it gets.
The application can build magazines based on other users, hashtags or lists. It creates categories that make it easy for you to explore content outside your own Twitter network. You can search for local topics or for events and breaking news. The articles will be presented in a simple view, or as full Web pages, and unique retweets are also shown in context. If you want to share articles you stumbled upon, simply re-tweet or email them, or add to InstaPaper. TweetMag also pulls in videos from sources like YouTube and Vimeo.

TweetMag’s design, look and feel is fantastic. But, you may be asking, how does it compare to Flipboard? I will simply say that even though Flipboard and TweetMag allow you to build beautiful digital magazine style interfaces, both are two different products. Yes, Flipboard is a “social magazine type” application, but it feeds from various social networks, sites and interesting topics. TweetMag stand on its own by providing you a whole new Twitter experience. Both apps can coexist in your iPad, and you can constantly use both of them.

Rather than being a direct competitor to Flipboard, I would say that TweetMag will definitely challenge other Twitter clients such as Tweetdeck, Twitterrific and several others. TweetMag is the most elegant Twitter app we’ve seen thus far.
You should definitely give it a try. TweetMag is available now for download for $4.99.
