BlueSLR Converts Your iOS Devices Into DSLR Remote Controls

As the holiday season continues its full swing, you certainly want to keep adding to your wish list. Treating yourself or surprising someone else with a handy accessory for your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch that pairs up very well with a DSLR camera can definitely be a great gift.

XEquals just released a Bluetooth accessory that with an accompanying app converts your iOS devices to handy accessories that can remotely control DSLR cameras.

The device called blueSLR, allows you to control certain models of digital SLR cameras from up to 300 feet away. Another great feature that comes in with the blueSLR, is the ability to embed GPS information into each photo. The blueSLR shows you exactly where your photos were taken on a map. It encodes the location, time, speed, and direction right in the file.

The blueSLR supports several Nikon models. Click here for a list of supported Nikon models. The company has also indicated that support for Canon Digital SLRs is coming soon. You can add yourself to their notification list via their site.

XEquals has released two versions of the blueSLR accessory. One model is compatible with the Advanced and Essential Nikon models (D70, D5000, D7000). The other model is targeted for the Professional DSLRs such as D3 series, D200, D300, and D700.

The blueSLR is very portable and light weight. The accessory is very small, which is about the size of two AA batteries. This makes it quite convenient to attach to your camera and carry around with your iOS devices.

According to the specifications, you will be able to control shutter speed, adjust focus, and and use the timer along with GPS update frequency. The blueSLR allows you to tell your camera to take a number of pictures within a given timeframe as well.

The blueSLR is available now for $149. You can order the device from here. The companion app is also available for free from the App Store.
