iPad Gift Card – A Great Stocking Stuffer for the Holiday Season

Apple-issued gift cards bearing the name “iPad” are now available at many retailers across the country.

What’s so special about them? Interestingly enough, Apple has refused to allow its customers to buy iPads with Apple gift cards since its launch, and has forced them to use debit or credit cards to purchase the device, for two main reasons:
- Control of the iPad gray market – using credit or debit cards helped Apple limit the amount of iPads sold to a single customer.
- Control of potential revenue leakage – the fact that the margins baked into the iPad pricing are lower than the ones enjoyed by most other Apple products didn’t jibe well with the fact that gift cards are usually sold in bulk for less than their face value.

Unlike the traditional Apple gift cards, the new cards are specifically dedicated towards the purchase of an iPad, and are welcomed at any Apple Store and at the Apple Online Store. The cards, released specifically for the holiday season, are identical to standard Apple gift. However, Apple updated its iPad purchase policies to include support for discounts through these gift cards.

If you’re still looking for great stocking stuffers, simply head to one of your local major retailers, as the card will soon be available at most large retail chains.

Huh, that’s definitely food for thought! Seems like a smart idea since iPads are so popular. I for one am happy looking for other Christmas gifts or cheaper alternatives like just regular e-book readers.
