PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit for iPad – Quick App Review

Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a wonderful children’s classic and the new iPad PopOut! version from Loud Crow Interactive combines the traditional story and illustrations with modern day interactive capabilities.

Enjoy the mischievous adventures of the very naughty Peter Rabbit as he gets into trouble eating his way through Farmer McGregor’s field.  Kids will love exploring the interactive features of this tale as they pull tabs, spin wheels and play with different elements on pages throughout the book.  Objects will literally pop-out onto the pages when tapped and can then be moved by tilting your iPad back and forth or dragging them around the screen with a finger.  A truly unique interactive experience!

Use the pull-up tab on the Menu screen to select “Read to me” and kids can listen to the story on their own.  As each word on the page is read, it’s highlighted in green.  Readers can play with the characters, touch words individually to hear them read again and then swipe the page to move on to the next one.

Select “Read myself” and kids can read and explore at their own pace.  If they’re not sure about the pronunciation of a word, they can tap it and have it read to them.  Continue reading and move on to the next page with the swipe of a finger.

Over 50 pages of wonderful narration, music, sound effects and interactive play make PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit great.  My daughter and I really enjoyed reading and exploring the pages of this app together.  This storybook app is unlike any we’ve seen so far, with characters that look like they are bouncing and springing when touched or moved with pull-tabs and wheels.  If you’re looking for a great bedtime story to enjoy with your kids, you can download PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit from the App Store now for $4.99.

Note:  PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit is the first installment in the interactive digital storybooks from Loud Crow Interactive and we look forward to the next one.
