Comcast’s Xfinity App for iPad and iPhone Available Now
Throughout this year many cable and service providers have been touting their efforts for fancy iPad program guides and/or remote apps. We’ve heard from Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner and many others. Verizon hit the App Store first with their Mobile Remote and DVR Manager apps for the iPhone, and soon will do the same for the iPad.
Today, Comcast released their Xfinity TV app for the iPad and iPhone. The app will enable Xfinity TV digital customers to watch TV shows and movies directly on the iPad either at home or on-the-go in the coming weeks (video after the break).
The Xfinity TV app is a TV guide and a mobile video player all in one. If you’re a Comcast customer with the compatible digital TV service, the app will allow you to change TV channels from the iPad and helps you search and instantly find what to watch among many top movies and premium cable shows. You can also program your DVRs to record TV shows, series and movies.
However, video streaming, additional remote features and enhanced search are all promised for future releases. If you want to watch movies and TV shows directly on the iPad anytime/anywhere, the feature will be available in December. Other features without a release date yet are:
- Personalize viewing with a “MyTV” feature to create a “Watchlist” of favorite TV shows and movies (coming soon).
- Access social networking sites to share what you’re watching with others (coming soon).
The Xfinity TV app can be downloaded now for free.
