Bang & Olufsen Unveils New iPad, iPhone and iPod Speaker Dock
If you’ve been looking for a classy speaker dock for your iPhone or iPad, then look no further. High-end Danish home audio and video company Bang & Olufsen just took the wraps off their new BeoSound 8 iPad/iPhone Speaker Dock, their first speaker dock for the iPad or iPhone.
Bang & Olufsen is known for their clean, cutting-edge, modern design and the BeoSound 8 certainly lives up to that reputation. The unit features two large conical speakers on either side of the sleek body. Each speaker is enclosed in a sealed cabinet and can handle a frequency range from 38Hz – 24,000 Hz producing thumping low-end bass and crisp high-end details.
The unit can be positioned to sit on a desk, table or countertop like a tradditional speaker dock but can also be mounted directly on a wall to free up room or counter space. To ensure listeners are getting the best sound regardless of the device’s positioning, the BeoSound 8 includes a manual sound selection switch that allows users to choose from three sound settings. These settings can optimize sound output when the speaker dock is mounted on the wall, placed in the corner of a room or simply sitting on a flat surface.
To further the BeoSound experience, Bang & Olufsen plans to launch a free iOS app that provides users Internet radio and alarm clock functionality. Users can upgrade to a pro version of the app for $19.99 and get 10,000 Internet radio stations, advanced alarm clock functionality and a music library browser. The apps will be available in the App Store this December.
The BeoSound 8 is available in black or white and customers can choose from six different colors (lavender blue, purple, green, yellow, black and white) for the unit’s speaker grills. All this sleek styling and customization doesn’t come cheap, the BeoSound 8 will go on sale later this month for a suggested retail price of $999.
