‘Starcraft 2′ On Your iPad or iPhone?

Sounds like a big challenge for the iPad and iPhone, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not like Blizzard Entertainment has found a way to develop an iOS version of Starcraft 2.

However, developer Daniel Hellerman has announced that his upcoming gameboard app, Starcraft 2 Gameboard, will hit the App Store in September.

According to Hellerman, the new iOS app will let you fully control Starcraft 2 from your iPad or iPhone. In addition, you will have a mini-map control that serves as a mini-strategy guide, detailed unit statistics, and easy touch access to the game’s most important hot-keys and macros. The app will sync up to the Starcraft 2 game via USB or WiFi.

In addition, the Starcraft 2 Gameboard app is supposed to be fully compatible with Battle.net. According to Hellerman the gameboard app employs a system that does not modify “any essential” Starcraft 2 functions, and your iOS device will work “almost as another keyboard” that is completely compatible with Starcraft 2.

We’ve also heard the upcoming app only works with copies of Starcraft 2 running on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Perhaps, a Mac version could be developed at a later date if this app gains significant support from Starcraft gamers.

Starcraft 2 Gameboard is scheduled to come out in September. Will it succeed? Will you be able to play and control Starcraft 2 from your iPad or iPhone?  It’s hard to tell. We will have to wait to determine if this gameboard app will live up to expectations.

Starcraft 2 on iPad sounds great.
Starcraft 2 on a Windows machine sounds like a big no-no.
Starcraft 2 on iPad just to control Starcraft 2 on a Windows machine sounds like something that exactly fails to please…

Starcraft 2 can only run properly on Windows…

Few Macs can run the game on the highest settings smoothly ;-)

Gaming has always been and will always be the domain of the PC!
