Microsoft Hotmail Adds Push Support for iPad and iPhone

Microsoft announced on their Windows Live blog today that iPad and iPhone users can get their Hotmail e-mail, contacts and calendars automatically “pushed” to their devices using the Hotmail’s newly implemented Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) technology.

The addition of EAS to Hotmail allows users to make updates on their PC, Mac or other gadget and have all changes automatically appear on all devices, including those based on iOS. EAS keeps all data in sync so users don’t have to manually reenter data across devices, and since the service can work over a wireless data connection, no tethering is required.

The new Hotmail push service now supports over 300 devices so chances are your device is covered, but if you want to make sure, checkout their support list.

Apple’s Mobile Me and Yahoo! mail already implemented push services earlier this year allowing iOS customers to seamlessly access their mail across devices.
