Seattle Seahawks Use iPads to Register Fans at Training Camp

email

After completing the draft for my team in our Fantasy Football League last night, it seemed only fitting to post an NFL related iPad story today.  We’ve all seen lots of TV coverage the past few weeks about NFL training camps going on across the country and the Seattle Seahawks are one team that has integrated the use of iPad Kiosks into 15 of their open practices at Bing Training Camp in Renton, WA.

Developed by BeyondKiosks.com, a company we featured back in July, the iPad Kiosks provided the service and flexibility the Seahawks needed to register more than 20,000 fans during camp.  It was a case of “the right product at the right time,” according to Seahawks Director of Digital Media Kenton Olson. ”The kiosks provided a secure way to showcase our web application while maintaining connectivity to Wi-Fi and 3G networks.”

These creative iPad kiosks were designed to take advantage of the iPad’s capabilities and distinct features.  They are ADA compliant and available in free-standing, countertop and wall versions.  Users are blocked from accessing the Home button in order to prevent them from exiting the kiosk application but most importantly, the iPad Kiosks are built to withstand the abuse of tens of thousands of people.

With the popularity of the iPads continuing to grow, it’s likely more organizations will take advantage of these type of kiosks to promote and assist their businesses.  We continue to enjoy discovering the fun and interesting uses people have thought up for the iPad so far.
