Order Sushi With your iPad

email

You have to hand it to the Japanese. They’ve managed to combine their appetite for sushi with their love of high tech gadgets.  Sharp Electronics, the Japanese electronics giant, recently demonstrated an iPad ordering system customized for local Japanese restaurants.

DifgInfo TV got a peek at the system during the Izakaya Expo and it does a nice job of replacing the traditional picture laden Japanese menu.  The system replaces standard print menus with an interactive app on the iPad where customers can look at the menu and even zoom in on individual dishes.  Once a diner finds something of interest, they can click on the item, specify how many delicious dragon rolls they’d like and then place their order.

Sharp has its own tablet in the works, so it’s interesting to see them using the iPad to showcase their system. According to a company spokesman, Sharp plans to adapt the system for other tablets including Sharp’s e-reader devices.  Ordering sushi has never been so much fun!
