iWork 9.0.4 Supports ePub Exports

email

Thinking about publishing your own book for iBooks?  It’s now easy with Apple’s update to iWork that was released today.  This most recent update provides a number of fixes to Apple’s iWork product suite for the Mac.  The 9.0.4 update also introduces the ability for users to export Pages documents in the ePub format which is the main format for iBooks on the iPad and iPhone.

The addition of the ePub export option offers document compatibility with Apple’s iBooks application for iOS and opens up the door for self-publishing by any author out there.

Wondering how to choose between the ePub and PDF format for your document?  Apple posted a document providing users with format advice while also outlining how to create an ePub file from a Pages document.

Apple’s iWork upgrade weighs in at 71.1MB and is now available via your Mac’s Software Update feature.

This is absolutely stunning, since we designed our own school book – now we can easily distribute it without additional printing fees. Another job well done!

install from SoftWare update, message: successfully updated. After restart I check with SoftWare update again and 1.9 update coming up one more time. OK. I install again and it takes longer time with progress bar and now I think the firmware is updated ? hmm …how to check-it?

      Jennifer,

You can check the version of iWorks running on your Mac by simply launching the Pages application and then selecting “About Pages” from the About menu. It should show “Pages 4.0.4″ as the version number if the update was successful. If it is showing an earlier version, your app was not updated and you should try Software Update again or visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4165 for more help.
