It’s no mystery that Facebook has become the social network forum where many of your friends and family spend quite a bit of time every day.
It has simply become the place where many like to express how they feel, what they’re doing, where they’re going, where they’ve been, or simply share their opinions about anything and everything.
However, even with more than 500 million registered users, Facebook still does not have a native Facebook iPad app. It took them a while to develop an app for the iPhone. Perhaps, the company has decided to leave this task to creative developers out there.
If you’re an avid Facebook user, you may have heard of an iPad app called Friendly Facebook Browser. The app provides some features that get you as close as possible to your normal Facebook web experience.
Friendly Facebook Browser has similarities to the official Facebook web browser. The layout and colors will remind you of the usual Facebook experience. The readability on this app is much easier than visiting Facebook via the Safari browser on your iPad. The developer optimized the app for reading by including larger fonts and making the design easier to navigate. In addition, this app doesn’t include any ads, which for many could be quite good.
However, there are some things missing from this app that you get from the Facebook website. The app is mostly limited to feeds and messages. There is no photo uploading. The app does allow you to do photo-viewing, and it will display the images very nicely. But, if you want to comment on photos, which most Facebook addicts do, the process is not as flawless as you would like. Every time you click on the post comment icon, the app will launch a browser from within the app allowing you to post a comment in the field under the selected photo image.
You will not get access to games and quizzes. So, if you’re a game addict and a huge fan of Farmville, you will not be able to play it via this app.
Overall, Friendly Facebook Browser could be very efficient for those users that primarily like to view news feeds, friend requests, events, update their status, and read or write Facebook messages in general. The app will allow you to view profiles, wall posts, and photos quite efficiently.
What we liked: Easy to navigate. Very efficient for reading and writing messages, following news feeds, displaying photos. A quick and efficient way to keep up with your friends and family on Facebook.
What we didn’t like: Does not support game playing and photo uploading. The app does not allow you to import media. You cannot modify or delete posts after you have posted something. At $4.99 is a bit pricey for the features you get.
To buy or not to buy: It all depends on your needs. Friendly Facebook Browser is suitable for checking the feeds and replying to posts, and keeping up with the latest news and photos from your friends. But, if you want the full Facebook experience for your iPad, you probably want to access Facebook via the Safari browser. Friendly Facebook Browser is available on the App Store for $4.99.
