Apple Special Event Scheduled for September 1

It’s that time again!  Apple announced today that they will be hosting a “special event” September 1st in San Francisco.  As usual, Apple didn’t provide any details of what they will be presenting, but based on the invite it looks like it will be music related.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see a new line of iPods showcased during the event based on Apple’s “normal” product release schedule.  The timeframe fits previous iPod launches and coincides with the upcoming holiday season, which is a big mover for Apple gear.

There has been recent speculation that Apple will release a new iPod Touch with a similar form factor as the current iPhone 4.  Rumors point to dual cameras for FaceTime support, Retina based display and support for iOS 4. Apple may also use the event to announce the rumored iTV and $0.99 TV show rentals on iTunes.

The event will kick-off at 1pm Eastern / 10am Pacific time and will be covered by several gadgets sites, including yours truly.   Stay tuned!

Does nobody except me expext a demo of the iOS 4 for iPad? And the music symbol could also head towards iLife ’10/’11, maybe a radically new design of GarageBand?
