AirTurn’s BT-105 – An iPad Page Turner for Musicians

The iPad is a great device for many things in your daily life. We’ve already seen many cool apps for gamers, for artists, for students, for work, for the family and even for those in need.

Another area that is becoming a hot topic for developers and creative companies is the development of apps and accessories for musicians. Whether you’re a DJ, guitar player or a musical director, iPad solutions seem to be popping up for just about everyone.

The latest iPad music related product comes from a company called AirTurn. The company has introduced their first prototype for its Bluetooth BT-105 page turner footswitch for the iPad.

The iPad is a great tool for reading digital sheet music. But, when you think of it, its functionality is hampered by the need to touch or swipe the screen to turn pages. For musicians who need both hands to play their instruments, removing a hand to momentarily touch the screen for page turns can be distracting and disruptive.

To resolve that issue, AirTurn has designed its BT-105 footswitch to connect wirelessly to the iPad. The iPad is triggered by foot switches to turn pages forwards and backwards.

The AirTurn BT-105 is expected to be available in the fourth-quarter. As of now, there are no pricing details. We hope this product can also be extended to future app concepts developed by all those creative developers out there.
