Hacked iTunes Accounts – Follow Up

Over the weekend we reported on iTunes users worldwide being hacked by rogue developers in Asia to increase their sales in the App Store.  Despite the reports, Apple did not respond to the accusations until today.

According to Engadget, the developer in question, Thuat Nguyen, has been removed from the App Store, along with his apps, for “violating the developer Program License Agreement, including fraudulent purchase patterns.”  Apparently Nguyen thought he could outsmart the people at Apple and benefit from his actions but his is arrogance got the best of him and now he is paying the price.  Wonder if he learned his lesson?

Although Apple never specifically stated fraud had occurred, they did encourage any user experiencing questionable activity in their iTunes account or with their credit card to change their iTunes password and contact their financial institution immediately.

Early this year, my itunes account was hacked. Somebody used my account to download some Snoopy Dog video. I contacted itunes, told them that I am a 52 year old Asian and I am not one who would be downloading anything that has to do with Snoopy Dog. It was only worth $2. She said that itunes do not reimburse anything for any reason. This is the reason I will not be buying anything that says Apple, itunes, ipod, ipad, itouch, ianything.
