Will.I.Am Uses “Find My iPad” To Track Down Thief

We recently reported about the Find My iPad app and MobileMe service. It’s certainly a cool way to track your iPad if it ever goes missing. The service works via a dedicated app you can install on any iOS device, or via the web.

There have been some recent success stories with this app. The most recent one happened this week. Black Eyed Peas front-man Will.I.Am had his Bentley broken into and his iPad was stolen.

But, Will.I.Am was able to locate the thief by using his iPad’s tracking device, and later sharing the location information with the police. The Black Eyed Peas star used the MobileMe Find My iPad service to help catch the thief who stole $10,000 worth of jewelry and other belongings from his Bentley.

If you use this service, make sure you have your Find My iPad turned on at all times!
