Designed primarily for beginners, Jones APR announced the release of their latest iPad app yesterday and according to Dee Jones, “We’ve always wanted to put together a knitting app. The iPad has provided us with a seamless platform to achieve this goal.” The large screen and great graphics make the 500+ photographs, detailed illustrations and step-by-step instructions easy for users to follow.
Getting started is a cinch! For an introduction to the basics, select “Getting Started” for knitting or “Crochet I” to learn about crocheting. You’ll cover the different types of yarn and the supplies you’ll need, how to hold hooks/needles, different stitches and more.
Users will learn how to knit and cover topics like increases and decreases, decorative touches, fixing mistakes, knitting in the round, knitting with color, finishing projects and more. Don’t think knitting is your thing and maybe you’d prefer to try your hand at crocheting. No problem! You’ll find plenty of examples on how to make slip knots, chains and numerous types of crochet stitches.
When you think you’ve got the basics down, pick a project, grab your supplies and get started! With almost 20 projects to choose from, this app is sure to keep beginners busy for a while. My husband’s grandmother has crocheted beautiful doilies, blankets, baby booties and bonnets for our family over the years and it’s something I’ve always wanted to learn. With the help of Knitting and Crocheting HD, I think I might just have to give it a try!
