iPads at the Plaza

Planning a stay at The Plaza, New York City’s “ultimate luxury destination”?  Starting in September, guests staying at the Central Park South landmark hotel will be offered iPads in their rooms and suites complete with a virtual concierge app developed by Intelity.

The partnership between The Plaza and Intelity is the first in the world to provide guest services and amenities using the iPad.  Upon arrival, guests will receive an iPad with a multimedia video welcome and an extensive list of services available at the touch of their fingertips.  Services will include pre-loaded newspapers, access to the Web, communication with the concierge and the ability to order room service, request wake-up calls and more.

“For over 100 years, The Plaza has set the standard for luxury and since opening our doors, guests at our hotel experienced many firsts in travel. Today, luxury is being redefined to not only include actual products but how something enhances an experience or fulfills a need,” said Shane Krige, general manager of The Plaza.   “Guests can now enjoy in-demand, innovative technology and access to our five-star offerings at their convenience – a true luxury for many.”

With the ever expanding implementation of iPads into daily life and the announcement of the sale of the three millionth iPad yesterday, it appears Apple has once again created a product that will revolutionize the way we work and play.
