FlightTrack Pro for iPad – App Review

Whether it is for business or for pleasure, if you happen to fly a lot, you should put FlightTrack Pro on your must-have list. The app does one thing, and it does it extremely well: flight tracking.
Tracking a flight cannot be more simple: add it manually, or forward your airline confirmation to a TripIt sync e-mail address to automatically sync your flight details. If you go down the manual route, simply enter your flight number, or if you do not know it, select a specific route to find your flight. If you go down the automatic route, there is not much to do, as the app will fetch your flight info as soon as you send your confirmation email.
The app gives you the status of any given flight (on-time, early, late, canceled…), and gives you estimated times of departure/arrival based on airlines info and current conditions at airports. The integrated map gives you the path of any given flight/route, and even lets you see details about flights actually en-route (location, speed, altitude). Gates and terminals are highlighted to help you get to the right gate quickly.
FlightTrack Pro also provides detailed info about any airport, such as average delays and weather forecast, a nice feature to help you gauge if your flight will be on-time. The map shows weather conditions such as heavy rains or thunderstorms, another great hint about the status of your upcoming flight, in case one of your airports and/or your flight route are experiencing bad weather conditions.
The app keeps track of all your upcoming flights and even provides a push option (enabled by default) to make sure you get constantly notified even when the app is not running. And if your flight happens to be canceled or severely delayed, FlightTrack Pro will find all the possible alternatives for you.
What we liked: Well designed, lots of info, and straight to the point, the app constantly keep you up-to-date about your upcoming flights.
What we didn’t like: The app could be cheaper.
To buy or not to buy: Simply brilliant, especially for frequent flyers.
