Free MobileMe Service to be Announced Next Week?
By There has been a lot of speculation on what Apple might do with their recent purchase of streaming music service Lala. Current rumors point to Apple leveraging Lala as part of a new cloud-based iTunes syncing and streaming service to be announced as early as next week’s WWDC.
As evidence of possible upcoming changes, BGR is reporting that the Account Status of MobileMe users has quietly been changed from “Individual” to now read “Full Member.” This designation could be used to differentiate between paying MobileMe subscribers and those possibly using a new free MobileMe / iTunes service.
If this speculation proves correct, iPad users would have access to their full iTunes library while on the road. This would be another good reason to get an unlimited data plan before June 7.
