Rumor Of The Day – Verizon Testing iPads On Its Network

According to the infamous Boy Genius Report, a “highly placed source” told them that the folks at Verizon were currently testing a prototype of the iPad capable to work on their network.
Before the launch of the iPad, many analysts expected Apple to launch the iPad 3G in partnership with Verizon, and rumor has it that negotiations to select Apple’s 3G partner for the iPad ended the day before the official launch – one of the reasons why the iPad 3G was released about a month after the WiFi-only version.
While this news should be taken with a grain of salt, offering the choice between the two 3G leaders in the US would be a smart move for Apple, in order to widen its iPad customer base.
