iPad Quick Tip – Safari Bookmarks Bar

Safari Bookmark bar on your iPad: Out of the box, the iPad doesn’t give you a bookmarks bar like you might be familiar with on you Mac or PC.  A bookmarks bar puts your favorite websites at the top of Safari and just a quick tap away.

To enable the bookmarks bar on the iPad, simply go to “Settings” and select the “Safari” option.  You’re presented with several Safari options, select “Always Enable Bookmarks Bar.”

With this enabled, go to Safari and surf to a website you like.  Tap the “+” button in the Safari Navigation Bar and select “Add Bookmark”.  In the “Add Bookmark” window you have the option of adding the website to “Bookmarks” or the “Bookmarks Bar.” Any site you add to the “Bookmarks Bar” will appear under the Safari Navigation Menu.  Now you can enjoy having your favorite websites just a touch away.

So – how do you edit or delete sites that have been added to the Bookmark Bar?

    • Doug Adams

Press the bookmarks icon at the top of the page and then select edit, this will give you the red minus signs next to each entry. All you have to do then is select the minus sing of the item you wan to delete.

If you want to just turn it on temporarily, simply two-finger tap the address bar.

You don’t need to two-finger tap it, just one will do.

How do you organize the order of bookmarks on the bookmarks bar, to prioritize the most used ones, as there is limited space, until you open the drop down menu. Also how can you switch bookmarks from the bar to the bookmarks tab. Advice greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you are having an Internet connection issue. Try shutting down and restarting your iPad. This may help it reset the Wi-Fi connection.
