iPad Replaces Your Crystal Ball

email

Want to see into the future?  If you’re an iPad owner then you just might be in luck!  Divination Through Cartomancy is a new iPad exclusive app from Canadian developers The Bale House. Divination Through Cartomancy is described as a “personal gateway to interpreting the future using ordinary playing cards.”

For those of you not familiar with Cartomancy, it is the predecessor to tarot cards and some say it was created to amuse Chinese concubines; others claim that the game comes from French Aristocracy.  According to The Bale House, there  is even speculation that it was brought to the Americas by Pirates who used playing cards to help them determine when they should put to sea.  Regardless of where Cartomancy stems from, this new iPad app looks to be a fun addition to your fortune telling repertoire .

Divination Through Cartomancy will be available April 3rd from the App Store for $1.99, cheaper than a deck of cards.

I think one slight correction should be made. Cartomancy might be the predecessor of tarot reading but it is not the predecessor of tarot cards. Tarot cards existed before they were used in tarot readings. Like playing cards, the tarot was really intended for playing a type of card games not for card reading. It should also be mentioned that tarot card games are still played in many European countries. The media should stop giving people this impression that tarot reading is the only use of tarot cards.
