iPad App Store Keeps Growing

According to Bloomberg, the iPad sales on the first weekend could have reached 700,000 units. The sales forecast numbers look very good. But, what about the iPad App Store? Based on the apps listed by AppShopper there is already over 3,200 apps available for your iPad. On iPad launch day (April 3rd), there were 2,300 iPad apps available. Ever since, the apps list has kept growing.

Mobclix, a mobile ad exchange, says that of the 3,100+ apps counted in the iPad store about 80% (aproximately 2,523) were paid apps. Reports are that only 599 of the apps are free (representing 20 %). As of now, in terms of total apps, games still account for the lion share with 942 of the 3,000 plus apps. To no one’s surprise, most of the 154 book apps available are paid apps.

This is only the first weekend for the iPad. There is certainly a large number of apps already and expect it to grow. The big majority of the apps are paid apps and some of the prices may be a bit hefty on your wallet. But, we expect over time some developers will bring prices down to maximixe the highest profit possible. Stay close to the iPad store. More apps will be awaiting everyday.
