Our First Impression of Cases
I walked out of the Apple Store about an hour ago with 2 iPads, 2 cases and a Dock Connector to VGA Adapter. We’ve been busy getting a feel for the products and playing with our new “toys.”
I mentioned the Belkin Vue case in our Top 10 list and blogged about the Apple iPad Case last night. They were both available at the Apple Store so we purchased them. Our first impressions are:
The Belkin Vue is a typical neoprene case. We got the plum color and really like it. It’s similar to all the laptop cases you already see people using, but smaller. It has a side pocket with a zipper for storage. You could store cables, memory cards and/or other small objects. This case will provide great protection and it’s still small enough to slip inside a large hand bag or case.
The Apple iPad case is thin and looks very slick. It fits snugly on the iPad and exposes all the ports nicely. The case folds over to allow you to view the iPad from two different positions. The lower position allows you to place the case/iPad on a table at a slight angle and type using the on-screen keyboard. We like this feature and it feels really natural. We do foresee a problem with the stand when using it in the more upright position. It feels unstable and kind of wobbly. If you choose this case and plan to use it for displaying pictures or watching movies, we recommend not using it around a hard surface. Just in case it tumbles off the table and onto the floor. We think other cases will do a better job and plan to review some of those in the coming weeks.
