iPad For More Than Movies and Games

Apple advertised the iPad as a movie watching, digital book reading, game playing platform, but it looks like it will be used for a lot more than that.  According to a report from Bloomberg, the iPad is gaining quite a following in the business community.  Professionals from health care to education will be big purchasers with plans to use the iPad for everything from email, to Web browsing, to specific business related applications and more.  Although many uses are already anticipated, there are surely many more yet to be discovered.

Charlie Wolf, a Needham & Co. analyst in New York, predicts the “iPad has a role to play in the business market.”  It likely will not run into the kind of resistance the iPhone did in the phone market, because the iPad is not replacing a well established technology.  Mr. Wolf further predicts the iPad “could do surprisingly well,” and consequently rates Apple shares as a “buy.”

    Another example: I have a client who would like to station an iPad outside each of their conference rooms with the schedule for that room on the calendar app.

    Question is: Does the iPad do CalDAV like the iPhone? It was unclear to me reading http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/calendar.html, though it would be pretty weird to include ActiveSync and not CalDAV…

      Since CalDAV is included in the iPhone SDK since 3.0, and since the iPad will be launched with iPhone OS 3.2, it should be available natively. We will confirm this as soon as April 3rd, no worries.
