AirStash wireless drive complements your iPad

There still some people out there debating whether to buy the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB version of the iPad. A usual indecision when you’re about to buy a trend-setting device and you want to determine what versions fit you best. Well, there are a few cool devices out there that will ease your decision and will complement your iPad.

Wearable, Inc. just introduced their AirStash wireless flash drive. And this is one of those devices that to me is very handy and useful. The AirStash is actually a USB key with built-in SD card slot that can, in a few seconds, create a private hotspot that allows you to share all kinds of media on the SD card with anyone within Wi-Fi range. When you think of it AirStash is an evolutionary leap forward for the USB flash drive and the perfect complement to the iPad.

Imagine this. You’ll be able to share and stream files directly and securely over WiFi. You can leave your Mac or laptop at home and simply use the AirStash to distribute documents and receive files from computers, view digital photos, or take additional movies and music to your next family getaway without the need of Internet connection or transfer cable required.

The AirStash costs $99.99 and will store and display images, docs, presentations, and contact info. For example, you can take some pictures from your family getaway, put the SD card into the AirStash, and view the photos on your iPad. Remember, this device comes with a built-in media server featuring a USB port on one end and an SD/SDHC card slot on the other. Simply insert a card and start filling it with media from your desktop or laptop, and then use the built-in Wi-Fi media server to access the content from your iPad browser. Guess what, the device’s browser-based interface has been optimized for the iPad using HTML5, so you can simply play and access any document, photo, audio, or video format.

I must say this is a very cool device. I think of it as my own media cloud service in my pocket! Or, better yet my Network-Attached storage companion everywhere I go. You don’t need to wait until Christmas to get one. Make your plans now.
